Frequently Asked Questions

How much do sessions cost?

We offer a sliding scale with different ranges according to the license level of our clinicians. For Associates the sliding scale ranges from $100-$150 per 50 minute session. For fully licensed clinicians the sliding scale ranges from $125-$175 per 50 minute session

Do you accept insurance?

We do not currently accept any insurances, however, our team is working to be able to accept insurances by the end of 2025. We are happy to provide a Superbill for clients to submit for partial reimbursement from their insurances.

What’s the process for starting therapy?

Once you reach out to us, either through the form on our Contact Us page or via email at admin@athelastherapygroup.com, a member of our administrative team will reach out to ask a few questions in order to set up a free, 30 minute telehealth consultation session with one of our clinicians. If that clinician feels like the right fit for you, you will continue with them by scheduling a first full session!

If that clinician does not feel like a good fit for you, we will match you with one more clinician for a consultation session. If for some reason neither of those clinicians feel like the right fit, one of our administrative team members will touch base and trouble shoot next steps together.

What's the difference between an Associate and a fully licensed clinician?

An Associate is a clinician who has completed graduate school and is receiving supervision while providing therapeutic services as they grow and strengthen their clinical practice. Being closer to their graduate school training, Associates bring fresh perspectives and up to date clinical techniques to the table.

A fully licensed clinician is someone who has completed their supervised hours of experience and has passed the clinical exam that corresponds with their license. A fully licensed clinician has a deep wealth of experience and lived knowledge that they bring to their clinical practice.

All of our clinicians participate in group supervision with one another and engage in continuing education units throughout the year.

Clinicians of all license types are highly valued members of staff that bring their own unique perspective, experience, and education to our client's therapeutic journey. We know our clients are in good hands with every single one of our therapists on staff.

Do you offer telehealth sessions or in person sessions?

At this time, all of our clinicians only see clients over telehealth. We do not see any clients in person. We hope this allows services to be accessible from a wide variety of places and allows couples and families to join from different devices if needed.

Who can participate in couples therapy or family therapy?

At Athelas, we believe that clients are the experts on themselves. That means that you know your relationship best and know how therapy could best serve you.

We accept clients that are participating in monogamous relationships, open relationships, polyamorous relationships, and any other configuration of romantic relationship.

We accept family therapy clients understanding that family means many things to different people. Nuclear families, blended families, inter-generational families, adult children and their parents and everyone in between are welcome to engage in family therapy.

Do you use preferred pronouns and preferred names?

Yes, we believe our clients are the experts on themselves and happily use pronouns and names that feel most accurate to our clients.
